many small artists i grow to love are incredibly sparse for
information online; the INFODUMP post series is my attempt to host
as much of my personal research regarding these artists as i can. these posts are intended to be returned to and updated!
i try to add sources where i can (using the "[src]" format for readability's sake), but please understand that this is fan-created work and it is not official in any capacity. thanks!

(L-R) Eric Talbot, David Montgomery, Derek Coile,
John Barry Photoshoot for XL, 1998 |
Blue Flannel were a power pop/alternative rock band from Columbus, Georgia formed in 1998 by vocalist/guitarist Derek Coile. Following the popularity of a four-track demo tape that he had shared amongst family and friends, Coile would decide to form the band alongside drummer Eric Talbot[src] and—following an audition process—the group would eventually settle into a four-piece lineup with the addition of guitarist David Montgomery and bassist John Barry.[src] Naming themselves 'Blue Flannel' in parody of the rising grunge scene at the time,[src][src] the band would sign to Universal Records and release one full-length studio album (hosting a mildly successful lead single) before silently disappearing in the early 2000's, likely sometime after 2003.[src]
Members:
- Derek Coile (vocals, guitar, songwriting)
- David Montgomery (guitar)
- Associated acts: Mulberry Grove
- John Barry (bass)
- Eric Talbot (drums)
- Kile Hussey (drums)
- Notes: Replaced Talbot later on.[src]
